Well Water Testing
in Middle Georgia
Know the State of Your Water Before You Use It
It’s critical to know what is in your well water before using it to drink, cook with, bathe in, or apply to your commercial or industrial processes.
DJ Pump Service offers safety testing to check for harmful bacteria—including coliform and E. coli—as well as aesthetic testing to determine the root cause of stains in your sinks or toilets, calcium buildup on your faucets, sour smells in your water, and more.
Well Water Testing for Aesthetics
Before well water hits your irrigation or plumbing system, it’s pulled from underground aquifers that are surrounded by rocks and other natural minerals. Those minerals and substances can seep into the water, affecting its purity and acidity. So, when the water is suctioned into your pump system, if left untreated, the absorbed minerals will impact all the surfaces your water touches, including your irrigation equipment, bathroom faucets and fixtures, washing machine, glasses and dishes, plumbing system, and everything else.
What Damage Can Untreated Well Water Do?
Depending on what’s in your supply, untreated well water can cause:
Mineral
buildup
Pipe
corrosion
Water
discoloration
Foul
odors
Gritty-feeling water
Dry or stringy-feeling hair
Blue, red, or brown stains on appliances, fixtures, clothes, etc.
Water spots or cloudiness on glasses and dishes
Dry or “soapy”-feeling skin
While none of these issues threaten your health, they typically cause several headaches for homeowners and business owners operating on well water. That’s why DJ Pump Service provides the testing you need to know exactly what is going on with your water.
Our aesthetic testing is free of charge for all customers, regardless of whether we drilled your well, and can determine root causes, including:
Hard water | iron | iron bacteria | acidic water | sediment
Depending on our testing results, we can recommend the filtration and conditioning equipment you need to address the root issue and begin enjoying clearer, more neutral, and well-conditioned water.
Water well owners are highly encouraged to reach out for free testing if they notice any changes in the appearance, taste, smell, or feel of their water.
Well Water Testing for Safety
You want the water you cook with, bathe in, drink, or use for commercial purposes to be free of harmful contaminants. Unfortunately, your well water may contain bacteria such as coliform, including health-threatening strains like E. coli (Escherichia coli).
Coliform is a bacteria that is most often associated with contaminated surface water that seeps into the water underground before reaching your well.
E. coli is a more harmful bacteria whose presence indicates a more severe contamination from a leaking septic tank, sewage line, cesspit, or other source.
If you suspect harmful bacteria in your well water, DJ Pump Service can provide safety-focused well water testing for an associated cost to determine the severity of the contamination and the recommended treatment options. Or, if you are in the process of buying or selling a home with a well and require testing as part of the home inspection, we can provide the testing to ensure the well water is safe for use.
Coliform can usually be treated with chlorination, while E. coli may require more substantial interventions, possibly including a new well site.
DJ Pump Service’s Well Water Testing Process
Well owners across Middle Georgia can call DJ Pump Service for water testing at any time and for any reason. Knowing the quality of your well water is always wise, regardless of whether there are apparent issues.
Step 1: Schedule Testing
When you contact us about well water testing, we will schedule a time to visit the well site.
Step 2: Testing or Sample Collection
One of our dedicated water quality technicians will arrive and either perform an aesthetic test at your location or collect a sample to take back to the lab for a safety test. You will receive the results of an aesthetic test on-site. The safety test will require at least 24 hours of incubation before the results are ready.
Step 3: Results and Service Recommendations
Based on the results of either test, we will offer the filtration or treatment recommendations needed to condition your water or make it safe to use.
